What is it about?
Rhinoplasty is a surgical operation that aims to correct the functional or aesthetic defects of the nose. It can be practiced from the age of 16 years.
- Functional rhinoplasty: for people with difficulty breathing. The surgeon straightens the nasal septum to correct this problem.
- Corrective rhinoplasty: its purpose is purely aesthetic and serves to modify the morphology of the nose.
Both types of surgery can be performed at the same time. It is not uncommon for people with breathing difficulties to take the opportunity to correct the shape of their nose.
Before the operation
Even if rhinoplasty nose job is a common and controlled operation, it requires good preparation. Expect several appointments with the surgeon, but also with the anesthesiologist. All these appointments make it possible to verify that you can support this surgery, but also to define the expected result. The surgeon will offer you, among other things, simulations of photos with different noses, to find the shape that is.
The course of the operation
The procedure can be performed under general or local anesthesia and lasts between 1h and 1h30, for a total hospitalization between 24 and 48h. The technique used depends on the desired result: to correct a lump, the surgeon must remove an excess of bone, while to change the tip, it will reduce the cartilage of this part or add cartilage grafts.
After the operation
The convalescence lasts between 8 and 15 days, but as the nose remains fragile several weeks, it will be necessary to give up sport for at least 1 month.
You may experience various symptoms after Cosmetic Nose Procedure, such as headache, hematoma or respiratory discomfort. In most cases, this happens alone and quickly, but do not hesitate to consult your doctor if necessary.
Results
You can enjoy your new nose after 2 weeks, but the final result can take 6 months to 1 year to be obtained. A failed rhinoplasty is rare, but if it happens, it would be possible to repeat an operation.
The price of a rhinoplasty
This operation costs on average between 2,500 and 4,500 €. When it is purely aesthetic, it is not reimbursed by social security, but if it has a functional role, it can be supported partially or totally.
